History

The Ardmore 5K was first organized by Redeemer Presbyterian Church and the Ardmore Neighborhood Association in 2002 to build community and to benefit a local charity.

In 2010:
• $18,000 and 800 pounds of food were raised and donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC
• Approximately 550 runners registered to compete in the 5K
• Nearly 100 people of all ages enjoyed the mile-long Fun Run
• Nearly 40 local businesses and organizations sponsored the race
